Women’s Equality Act  revived

Legislators, advocates urge Senate to pass all 10 points

 ALBANY  — State legislators and women’s rights  advocates gathered Tuesday at the Capitol to once again call on the Senate to pass the Women’s Equality Act.
 
Gov. Andrew Cuomo in the 2013 State of the State address introduced the 10-point Women’s Equality Agenda.

The package of bills seeks to end  discrimination and inequality based on gender. The Women’s Equality Act passed in the Assembly in 2013 but failed to pass with Senate Republicans because of their opposition to the 10th point, which would  bolster abortion rights.

Senate Democratic  Conference Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins of  Yonkers said they are committed to passing all 10 points of the act instead of  passing the bills separately.

“I don’t think you’ll hear anybody here thinking that any bill in that package isn’t an important bill,” she said at the news conference. “I think we accomplish more together, and I  think that every single person, if they really thought about it, would want all of the pieces in the package to pass because there’s not one element of this, frankly, that should legitimately be denied.”
 
 Women’s rights advocates also supported keeping the bills together instead of voting on them separately.

Last week, Assembly­woman Amy Paulin, D-Scarsdale, said she  would push for a stand-alone bill in the Assembly for her legislation to strengthen human trafficking laws, which is part of the Women’s Equality Act. Paulin said the issue of human trafficking is more important than politics, and she believed the Women’s Equality Act would fail to pass the  Senate again this year.

Note: Don't be deceived. They talk about the other issues, i.e. trafficking laws, in the bill to deflect your attention from the 10th provision.

Meanwhile, they push hard for the abortion provision, which is what they really want!

On February 27, 2014, the public comment period will close for newly-proposed regulations from the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). If enacted, these regulations will in essence make the IRS targeting against Tea Party groups legal. We cannot allow this assault on free speech!

The IRS has already received nearly 70,000 comments on the proposal, but we’re asking all our supporters to send their own comment to the IRS before the period closes later this week. We need to make our voice too loud to be ignored.

The rules would expand the definition of candidate-related political activities to include things like voter guides, voter registration, and forums. The IRS is attempting to put targeting practices into the regulatory code and make them permanent

While we were not aware of the IRS “proposed rule making” earlier, the comment period will soon some to an end, and it will impact all social service Organizations. (See IRS proposal with this release)

BRRTLC urges any and all not for profit social service organizations to contact the IRS no later than tomorrow, and comment on this political action by the IRS, but also, to contact their congressmen/women and senators to demand that the IRS be stopped from stop this assault on the first amendment, and the rights of free association.  The IRS can target any group that political winds oppose.  Conservative groups today, liberal groups tomorrow.

Dear Senators: 

Once again, the Governor and his friends are on a campaign to make permanent what was truly a legislative, and improper action of the Supreme Court of the United States--Roe vs. Wade. 

He and his supporters have no right to call this the "Women's Equality" Act.   

First, who is he to speak for women, when the better part of women abhor the concept of aborting a living infant in their womb? 

Second, what equality is there for the girl-child in the womb? How would they want you to vote? 

To Cuomo these infants in the womb are of no more value than those humans the Supreme Court of the United States in its Dred Scott v. Sandford 1857 decision declared to be “considered as a subordinate and inferior class of beings, who had been subjugated by the dominant race….and had no rights or privileges but such as those who  held the power and the government might choose to grant them…” (quote actual decision).   Scott, was a slave in the United States who unsuccessfully sued for his freedom and that of his wife and their two daughters.   

The woman used by the abortion forces to make up a case which resulted in  the Roe vs. Wade decision has publicly recanted and regretted her part in that dark day in our nation's history. 

Since January 22, 1973, over 60 million tiny Americans awaiting birth have been dispatched---in a most cruel fashion---in their mother's wombs. 

Their blood cries out for justice. 

We now have a man sitting in the governor's mansion who strong arms his radical agendas into law, while, it seems those who claim to represent "the people" stand mute.

At least all of our assembly members voted against this assault on human life except Crystal Peopls-Stokes 

On behalf of the pro-life public in Western New York and the membership of the Buffalo Regional Right to Life Committee, we urge you to stand for right and vocally, and publicly oppose this outrageous  measure. 

Please respond in writing to this communication.  Your responses--or failure to respond--- will be published to our membership, their families and friends. 

And please stop spending our over-taxed dollars on those commercials claiming that New York is growing and prospering.  That hardly true. 

The governor has told a good part of the population of our state that we "don't belong".  

It appears also that for Cuomo, there is also no protection or room for the innocent, New Yorkers awaiting birth in this state. 

How tragic. 

We expect you will join our outcry against another attempted autocratic act of Cuomo  and his cronies---Mr. Silver  and Mr. Klein---and vote against this legislation.

 Over the past few years of defacto Democrat supermajority control of the Senate, we have pointed out that legislative battles are won or lost long before the vote is cast.

When Democrats stay unified on an issue and relentlessly pick off
 Republican votes for radical initiatives as GOP leaders remain silent, they will win every time.
 Hence, that is why we need a voice, not just a vote to represent our concerns in Washington.
 The Senate just voted 61-30 to proceed with the transgendered special rights bill (ENDA), all but ensuring its final passage by the end of the week.
 
 Seven Republicans – Susan Collins, Dean Heller, Mark Kirk, Kelly Ayotte, Rob Portman, Orrin Hatch, and Pat Toomey – voted for it.
 Mitch McConnell and John Cornyn refused to speak out against this bill, even though there are so many angles from which to assail it. They just stood back and allowed the Democrats to ravage the conference.
 There is no voice; no leadership; no inspiration. . . .

 2. He Didn’t Lie, It’s Just That The Words He Used In The
 Order He Used Them Didn’t Tell A Truth Per Se
 
 This weekend, in an article titled “Insurance Policies Not Worth Keeping,” the New York Times gave Obama cover for his “you can keep your insurance” claim, saying that he merely “misspoke,” and that besides, the
 cancelled policies were no good but people were just too dumb to see it, and thankfully Obama knows better than you and also isn’t he dreamy. . . .

One of the most surreal factors in the Democrat talking point of “War on Women” is their reflexive support for abortion in all of its cruel and inhumane permutations.
 
 
 Earlier in the year a ditzy Texas state senator became a national cause celebre (see Abortion Rights Under Fire: Why Wendy Davis’ Filibuster Matters) when she undertook a filibuster of a Texas bill that, in reaction to
 the Kermit Gosnell case (see Tom Ridge: Unindicted Co-conspirator) made abortion practitioners at least pretend to be a part of the medical profession. The bill ultimately passed in a special session and was immediately appealed on two grounds by Planned Parenthood. . .
